Christopher E. Bassil, M.D.

Robotic and minimally invasive surgery, pelvic floor disorders, pelvic pain, prolapse and incontinence disorders.

Born in South Florida, in my first year of life, my family moved to Saudi Arabia until I was five years old. I grew up in Miami then attended the University of Florida (Go Gators!) graduating Summa cum laude with a degree in Neuroscience. Between college and medical school, I worked at the University of Florida Tissue Bank, where I procured certain human tissues from organ and tissue donors. During these years, I taught Latin, ballroom, and swing dancing as well.

I then went to the University of Miami for medical school, where I served as Class President for 4 years.  Next, Houston, Texas was where I attended residency at Baylor College of Medicine, serving as chief resident my last year. Following residency, I joined my wonderful OBGYN of Atlanta family.

I have been involved in the Northside OBGYN administration over the years. Currently, I am the vice-chairman and in October 2021, I will become the Chairman of the OBGYN Department at Northside Health System.

Personally, I have 3 wonderful children, a son, and two daughters.  My son is an avid musician and enjoys skateboarding.  My middle child loves animals, art, and crocheting.   My youngest loves music, art, and fashion.  My son attends Marist High School, and my two daughters are homeschooled by their amazing and brilliant mother, who has been instrumental in the kids’ and my success.

Through personal experiences, growth, and learning, I have realized the importance of the Mind-Body-Spirit connection and how it drives our everyday lives.  Meditation, mindfulness, and healthy nutrition practices are important in overall health. Furthermore, neuroplasticity, the ability of neural networks in the brain to change through growth and reorganization, can be directed through proper channels to achieve desired outcomes.  These philosophies and supporting resources, in addition to traditional medicine, can be instrumental in managing general well-being, mental focus and clarity, mood and pain disorders, and a variety of other aspects of health.

My hobbies include fishing, woodworking and building projects, travelling, exercise, meditation and learning about the many forms of spirituality, world history, and new discoveries about this amazing journey that is life.
