You and your doctor have
decided to pursue pregnancy using IntraUterine Insemination (IUI). If
you are using Clomid or Femara to assist with ovulation you will take it on
cycle days 3 - 7 (the first day of your period is considered cycle day
one).
On
cycle day 11, start using an Ovulation Predictor Kit (OPK). When the
OPK turns positive, you are expected to ovulate within the next 24-36
hours. IUI will be performed the day after your OPK turns
positive. The day your OPK turns positive you must call our office
and notify us that you need to come in the following day for an IUI so that
we can prepare your chart. You must also call the andrology lab at
either RBA (404-255-0870) or ACRM (770-928-2276) and inform them that your
partner will need his semen processed for IUI on the following day.
You will need an order form for a semen prep for IUI.
We
will undertake up to three cycles of IUI before referring a patient to a
reproductive endocrinologist for more intensive infertility therapy.
We have therefore included three orders for IUI to be used as needed.
If
you have further questions regarding your infertility work-up or
treatments, it is best to make a consultation appointment with your
physician. Our nurses are well trained in obstetrics and gynecology,
but more complicated questions regarding infertility should be addressed
with your physician in person.
